The experience was great for a first time cruise. With nothing to compare it to we found the ship excellent. We really enjoyed the dress down option as we are not into dress up affairs as others may be. The NCL staff was excellent. A good side was the food options were awesome - great healthy choices with lots for diabetics. Did not like the having to pay for bottled water. Good to know you were allowed to bring on board your own canned pop and bottled water. Don't like the having to pay for things on the ship like bowling etc with no other options of entertainment when at sea. We realize that is a company issue which I have already comment to them about. On the brighter side - we never had to be tendered so that was great. The ship was extremely clean. I highly recomment the GEM and would consider cruising again.
