The Panama Canal transit was the highlight of this cruise followed closely by the attentive cabin service. We found the average age of 74 was too old and somewhat sedate for us. With the shore excursions geared to an older demographic, active excursions were difficult to come by. Likewise, the onboard entertainment was far too Middle-of-the-Road for us too enjoy. Holland America knows its clientale and caters to them very well. We simply chose the wrong line for ourselves. Dining started out as first class while this ship was just finishing a world tour. The meals became less extraordinary after about day 4; down to merely Very Good. Dining service was very good and the wine stewards were excellent. Being novices at cruising, we've learned not to book a cabin under the promenade deck as washing down and scrubbing begins at 5:00 AM. Holland America has incredible shore staff at embarkation and disembarkation. Very friendly and helpful. Overall, a very good experience.
