Savona port has a great lounge area/free internet/food-bar service/airconditioned.....super facility. The ship accommodations were superior....king bed w/sofa, end-tables,chair, desk area, lots of cupboards, etc. Nice size bathroom....very, very comfortable. Housekeeping staff were excellent. Very clean. Dinning -- excellent food and staff. Our 13 year old son really enjoyed the dinning room food and its choices. He ordered many different meals like, salmon, octopus, different soups. Pasta dishes were superior. Buffet -- great, just found other guests always pushing their way through. Manners were left home?? Manners were left at home for butting in line-ups and responding to hello's, excuse me, lack of manners in hallways and stairs) etc. (Not cruise lines fault, other guests) Good wine selections were available. Entertainment -- Shows were superior and very enjoyable. All the acts were good (only missed one night). Enjoyed all the music in the various rooms, great dancing music. Spa/Fitness and Childrens Activities -- did not use, but observed that it was well planned. Public Areas -- very comfortable with good seating/lounging area around pool with great activities and music. BUT TOO MUCH SMOKING ON BOARD and some guests did not obey non-smoking areas. We also saw children sitting and a few playing the slot machines in the Casino. They were signs posted no minors allowed, but staff did not enforce no-smoking or casino rules. We noticed executive management staff even smoking in uniform???? We also noticed executive staff sampling (picking) food off the buffet tables (in uniform)???? Not very professional, I am sure these staff would not allow their dinning/bar/housekeeping staff to smoke on the job, so why should they???? Shops were good and I did use them. The ship was very clean. Enjoyed the tour of the kitchen.....so, so big. Excursions on shore -- were too expensive for what you got. 1st excursion was good value. 2nd excursion was way over priced and even cut short in time. So on our 3rd excursion I managed to cancel & get refund (after a very long discussion and argument as to why) and from then we planned our own shore excursions. Also, we were very disappointed that in 2 ports we had to pay 5 euros each to have us brought by bus away from the industrial port that we disembarked on. I think it should be the cruise lines responsiblity to dock or take us to an area were there is normal civilization. The one port appeared to be about 4 miles away from the industrial area to a normal environment and the other was about 7 mins. by bus. But all in all we were happy with the cruise. It was our son's first cruise and he enjoyed it very much. He did not join the children club because most of the children there were european speaking and not very friendly. So he tried to find english speaking children, which there were not too many of, but we should of known that this might happen becuase it was a european cruise (Italian). One positive note: all guests appeared to have lots of fun....participating in dancing lessons etc. They really catered to european families. Would use this cruise line again. Thanks.
